I used this product in Brown Umber.You have to mix the powder with either hot water or steeped (hot) black tea.I chose to blend it with the hot black tea.It is easy to apply to the top of the hair, but difficult to "blend in," the rest sort of released small bits of what I could best call coffee grounds, in fact, the texture does remind me a bit of coffee grounds although the overall substance is more like a thick muddy paste.
I am not saying that this is bad, only that it can be problematic to apply throughout the hair.If you are going to use this, please make sure to wear something that won't get ruined; I forgot to put on an old shirt and that is probably why I was afraid to comb it through.If I had been prepared, I probably would have had a much easier time of applying it all over, without worrying about staining clothing.
Due to my hair colour (dark) and thickness, I had to let this sit for about two hours with the cap on (which really helped).The product was fairly easy to wash out and not messy as most dyes, as other dyes seem to keep running dark forever under the water.
The overall effect was actually somehow better than that of most hair dyes; however, if you are still looking for something with 100% coverage for grey/white hair, this may not work for you.It does an average to above average job though.
The smell of this, mixed with black tea, is very earthy yet somehow pleasant.This is a very nice product.No strong smells or tingling or burning of the scalp.The ingredients are all natural and plant-based.
For those with very long hair, you may need to get two packages of this.
