I have medium-dark brown hair with a lot of gray/white.As I've aged, what hair that hasn't turned white seems to have gotten darker, almost black, and the "salt 'n' pepper" looks dull and seems to really age me.I've had poor luck with hair dye in the past because of brassiness so I tried this product. It's OK -- didn't stink, covered the gray completely, but is very dark.It looks very dark brown instead of medium brown, and is also very one-dimensional.I was hoping it would make the gray look more like highlights, but my hair is all one color, screaming "dyed."Since I just used it it's too soon to say if the "brass free" claim is true but I hope so.If I use it again I will pick a lighter brown and will not leave it on so long (I left it on for 15 minutes, not 10, so maybe it's my fault it's too dark, but my gray hair has been resistant in the past).
One thing that puzzles me -- why does Clairol have to make a Brass Free line in the first place?Shouldn't ALL hair dye not lead to brassiness?Surely no one says, "Hmmm, I think I'll go for a brassy shade."
