I like Punky Colours because they are not loaded with the toxic material in permanent dyes. I've used many different colors. They are easy to apply and take very little time to set. The smell is fruity/pleasant. I love how the color changes with each wash to create different effects and that it eventually fades completely. I use these colors to artistically paint my hair in streaks and sections that blend in interesting ways when my hair dries. Since I don't try to fully cover all my hair, I get many applications (a dozen or more) out of one jar. It doesn't take much to get a nice color that lasts for many washings on my light brown and gray hair. Bleached hair would get brighter coloring, but I like how the colors turn out on my unbleached hair (won't show except as a faint highlight on darker hair). Great fun! Mixing different colors on your hair while they are wet results in a brown color rather than the color you'd expect as when you mix paints. So be sure to separate sections of hair if you use different colors, or wait till one color is rinsed and dried before applying another. Once a color dries in your hair, another color applied over it will blend like paint, i.e., yellow over blue will create green. Friends who have bleached or very dry hair found that the color did not completely disappear after many washings like it appears to do in mine. The product also conditions your hair to come out very silky and shiny. I've tried other semi-permanent/washable dyes and some are more liquid and messier to use and don't hold as well as Punky Colour. Punky Colour is a gel thats easy to comb in and can be cleaned up with soap and water if washed off right away from skin or sink or counter surfaces. If you leave it on too long on surfaces, then scouring powder will do the trick. On the skin, a few washings with Dr. Bronner's soap gets it off.

Product Description:
Directions: Shampoo hair and dry. Use petroleum jelly or baby oil around hairline and on ears. Use rubber gloves. Apply dye evenly from roots to ends with a Jerome Russell tint brush. Comb through. Leave on hair approximately 15-30 minutes, then rinse out. Color will fade out with each shampoo and may last for 5-40 washes. For best results, apply to dry hair, bleach first and do not condition.
